some help with melodyne essential please

melodyne essential (lite version factory bundle)

i have some questions about melodyne. ive used this program on and off with no problem until lately. in the past i would open the stand alone, open "new file" select a wav vocal track, and melodyne would automatically "split the vocal"(placing the vox scattered around the pitch frame) track into the pitch regions they were sung. as far as i know, this is the way melodyne should work by default. now, when i open any wav file, the vocals just open in a single formation line, yet i still hear the pitch as it was sung. when i open the original "demo file" (a female vox line intentionally off pitch) that comes with melodyne it places the vox where they are suppossed to be.
also a side note, the 08 apple security date messed w my PT and is now fixed. does this mess w melodyne?
do i have settings wrong?

I have a similar setup except I'm using a 002R and had a somewhat related problem myself some time back. Go here http://www.celemony.com/userforum/vi...hp?f=10&t=3963, read about my issue on the Celemony forum and let me know if this is what you're experiencing. Did you use effects while recording your vocal?

Haven't done this in a while but if I remember right it's something to do with the options. If you're trying to fix timing it will drop them all in the same pitch but if you select pitch correction then it will drop them in the right pitch. It's file specific hence the demo file being correct. Off the top of my head I can't remember exactly how to change it but have a poke around and you'll see it.

this was what i was looking for. thank you so much. my version seems to be a bit buggy though. when i choose "melodic"it highlights and doesnt switch sometimes. also this setting (which was the default when i began using it) does not stay saved for my next "new file" ..... anyway, thanks , pints on me!
