Default Dialog boxes and dual monitors

I know there are a lot of dual monitor users here and I could use a little configuration help. Currently, I have a Matrox G450 video card and dual monitors. I use the extended desktop, which does pretty good with PTLE. However, some dialog boxes come up in the middle and split between the two screens. I find the "bounce" dialog box to be the most annoying.

So, my question is, does anybody with dual monitors have the "bounce" dialog box go "left" or "right" of the middle, and if so, how did you do it?

It is probably the software for your video card doign that. I have had NVidia and ATI cards and neither of them have that problem. Dialog boxes will always pop up in the center of one of the screens. That Matrox software sounds like it is making applications think you have one big monitor, which is why it pops up in the middle. The dual monitor support in windows works just fine, and doesn't have that problem. I have my PTLE 6.4 window stretched across both screens (no fancy maximize button like you probably have with the matrox stuff).

Yea, I have the "extended" desktop. I installed the Matrox software, went into control pannel> display> settings and have it set at 2560x1024. The odd thing is that many dialog boxes show up left or right just fine, but a few split the middle screen.

I guess I need to ask if other Matrox dual monitor users have this issue?

I have the p650 and have found dual independent mode to work better than extended mode.

They just released some new drivers, but PTLE was misbehaving a bit (like not launching) with the new powerdesk running. I put the old ones back on and now it is working like a charm.

I have had no luck with the "strech" mode and PTLE. It was very annoying, and IMHO not worth it.

Same here

I have the P750 and I had the "dialog in the middle" only when I had the two screens set for stretched desktop with single resolution: switching to separate resolutions for the two monitors fixed that.

Hope this helps

Thanks, gerax and bighubbaj, for the responses. Well, I guess I will check out the independent modes. I use to have independent mode but the PTLE sessions would not open correctly and I ended up resetting everything. But this 'dialog-box-in-the-middle- thing really drives me nuts.

One more thing, guys. I have a matrox 650 on the way. The G650 and G75 support dual DVI. Are you running dual digital displays in DVI, or analog with these cards.

just curious... I was thinking that the G650 has 2 DVI ports. So, do you use an adapter? I have a new display that supports DVI and I'm thinking of getting a second.
