bitrate of rendered files not working correct
I have this bug for years with ProTools (also in 2020.12)
In the settings I have enabled that the bitrate of rendered files should always be in 32bit. But anyway when I render a file with an audioSuite plug in or "consolidate" something in the edit window the results are always (!) 24bit, also when the source material war 32bit. it only works correct with "commit" This should be fixed soon. |

Re: bitrate of rendered files not working correct
If you don’t create a support case and report it, how will Avid know it needs to be fixed?

Re: bitrate of rendered files not working correct
thanx for your help. I will do this. I think it is also good for other people to know that the files they are rendering are not what they expected.
my experience with the suppert was that problems i had were never fixed. they don't care about delay compensation of side chains and synced effects, manually delay compensation of hardware inserts in samples (and not ms ?!?) integration of instruments with internal sequencer like kontakt or Maschine. all these are not synced in ADC. All these bugs are there for years. I hope that posting these problems here will also help Avid to make a change |

Re: bitrate of rendered files not working correct
You need to setup your session (menu setup -> session) as 32bit float for the audiosuite en consolidates to render as 32bit. The preference menu setting is only for commit.
If your session is already setup as 32bit it is indeed a bug. |

Re: bitrate of rendered files not working correct
@musicman691
its the bit depth not sampling rate. @Farhoof that makes no sense for me. I don't want to record in 32bit. but i want commit/audiosuite/consolidate in 32 bit. and in the prefs they say rendered audio always in 32 bit (instead of session bit). why should this only means commit?!? makes no sense. this is a bug. If I had to make my session 32bit this option is not necessary. for mixes and submits in the session its a cool option to render them in 32bit without recording all tracks in 32bit. |

I agree it would be very nice to have the option to use it on audiosuite as well for the same reason it's nice for commit, but the reason it doesn't work is not a bug, it's a design choice. |

Re: bitrate of rendered files not working correct
you are right, I missed that the headline is "commit", I have the german version of PT and the translation is sometimes a little bit confusing.
but in this case it makes sense and is no bug. sorry ! thanx for clearing it! |
