Default what would you call this credit?

The scenario: Two actors/comedians go into a studio and improvise off each other for an hour or two. Then I am given all the raw materials and am told to edit out a few 35 second spots of "good stuff" that will later have cartoon animation of the actors added to their voices. What would my credit be? Its almost like a picture editor, but without picture. Its also almost a writing credit…

Does anyone have experience with what to call that? Perhaps people who work in animation a lot...

You're the editor.

you are both the Recordists and the Dialog Sound Editor
maybe even the Mixer if your sweetening with SFX and/or reverb and they don't add anything else to it

I don't think so Craig. I'm helping to create the content here in a significant way, not just editing the dialog...

OK, I misread the first part so no Recordists crdit
If just the audio recorded: Dialog Editor
If adding SFX/GBs: just Sound Editor
If adding reverb and they don't add anything else add: ReRecoding Mixer
IF they told you to pick the best parts and no other input or notes so it's all your choice add: Segment Producer or Producer

Thanks Craig, That's the part i'm asking about… They gave me an hour of material but i'm the one who decided what was funny and what to cut out, timings and spaces between jokes, etc… I don't think that's a producer though… is it? I feel like Phil's answer of just plain "Editor" seems like the most accurate response so far…

I'm not saying you don't take Sound Editor
I'm saying you take Sound Editor + ReRecoding Mixer + Segment Producer (don't ask for Producer money just the credit) take all you can get

Certainly sounds like a producer to me.

Ah ok, thanks Rec. Coming from a mainly film background, to me Producers feel like people who are sort of the outskirts of the creative process, not directly creating it… Sometimes more and sometimes less involved, but never really directly responsible. More just giving their opinion at the end if anything. But I guess in TV and web and the like, the producer is often the one directly creating and/or working with content eh? It feels weird to ask for a producer credit…

in any case, thanks so much for your input all…
