AAC Needs to be added to Protools Ultimate

When are you guys going to add the ability to bounce the AAC audio file format from Protools?

Is it really important? I'd rather Avid not pay licensing fees for AAC.

Apple Music gives good conversion to AAC. Most publishing platforms make format conversion easy.

AAC export would be one less ****** step in my workflow, when I need to lay back bounced audio to an H.264 MP4 video.

With that logic, it would make sense to remove mp3 bounce from PT also?

It is just a matter of supporting basic standards and AAC is a standard, like it or not, and as a self-proclaimed industry leader, PT should support industry standards.

What does an authoring licenses for AAC cost? It's ~$1/device/program for playback. I'd expect a lot more for authoring.

IIRC Avid held off on including MP3 as a option until it was unencumbered by licensing fees. Until then they charged separately for the option. Maybe Avid could do the same with AAC.

OTOH bounce to AAC might fit well with the new "public beta" bounce to .MOV/H.264. I imagine the PCM only output there is going to frustrate folks.

MP3 is license free since 2017, maybe they could, maybe they could spend the saved money on AAC

I use AmadeusPro to convert to data compressed codecs. It's a flat $69 with no subscription. I am sure the Avid can afford whatever Herersoft pays to cover the usage fees.

in the scope of things for Avid to do, I don't find this compelling.

This would be very helpful which is why we can expect Avid to never do it. This company does not care about what their customers want. Prove me wrong.
