Hello, I am brand new to protools and when I try to start a new session and click "save" on the the sound parameters window I get a message sayin "session must be on an audio record volume". What does this mean and how to I change this? tried changin the input volume on my computers preferences, but still got the same message. Your help is appreciated!

Re: \"record audio volume\"
hi. welcome to the forum.
as it explains in you manual, the drives that you record onto must be marked "R" in the WOKSPACE window. T is transfer, P Playback... make sure you have 'permissions' on that dive to change it. ... meaning, that is an OSX thing. dig, daddio?

Re: \"record audio volume\"
yer not trying to do this to your system drive are you?
how is the drive formatted? do have permission? highlight the drive, then hit apple-i (get info) look at permissions ... make sure that the account you are logged into in the OS is allowing you to change the permission on the drive so you can reand and write to it.

Re: \"record audio volume\"
Quote:
get an inexpensive internal drive and install it, or a external FW drive (OXFORD 991 chipset). the system drive contains the OS and the application .. to put audio onto it as well is just asking for trouble ... check out the compatibility docs at the DIGI website... read the manual on GETTING STARTED ...
