Default upgrade advice

Help I need some advice. I'm running an MBox on a G4 Dual 500 756megs ram. PT 6.4,Commmand 8 and MAudio BX5's. I do post for film /tv and need to be able to handle bigger sessions, more plug-ins. Am I buying more power by upgrading to an 002R? I really don't have the cash flow for an upgrade to a full blown HD at this point.
Is the firewire connection versus the usb any issue?

Any advice?

002R gets you 18 inputs 4 outputs

Look at used Mix stuff on Ebay. Fast way into TDM.

Thanks for the reply. I'm really wondering what's the stability difference between the USB MBox and the Firewire 002r

Actually, 002 gives you 18 outs. With the proper system, you will have a great setup.

the ins and outs aren't my main concern. the ability to run bigger sessions is. Does anyone know if the change to a firewire based 002r will allow me to have bigger sessions? Isn't firewire a faster transfer rate than usb. Won't this mean the ability to process more data faster?

If compared to USB v1.1, yes.

No. The interfaces act as dongles (large and clunky at that) for the Pro Tools LE software and as interfaces. The 002R does not allow you to have larger sessions or a higher plug-in count. The session size maximum is a function of the LE software, and the number of RTAS plug-ins you can run is a function of the computer you are using.

If you need to run more plug-ins or have more simultaneous tracks then you need a TDM system.
