Default How to control effect with midi keyboard

Hi,

I'm sorry if this is already posted. It's been a while since I have used PT.

I'm just trying to assign a knob/fader to a plugin in pro tools. (Eg So I can control the drive in SansAmp or the Mix in Fuzzwah with a slider on my midi keyboard).

The only plugins I can work out how to assign are the Avid virtual synths.

How do you assign 3rd party plugins and effects to a midi controller?

I'm using PT 11.2.2 on Mac OSX.

You can't. MIDI in PT is pretty bare bones, and doesn't have this feature at the DAW level.

There are some 3rd party plug-ins that will allow this, but the developer has to put in the assignable MIDI Controller data on their end.

Thanks Shane,

Does Avid have plans to improve this? Aren't midi capabilities an important role of modern day DAW's now?

They are but not for PT. Unfortunately PT never really was built for serious MIDI work and never will be. You want to do serious MIDI work you'll have to go elsewheres unfortunately.
