Default How to repair a session that\'s corrupted? anybody?

Hey, last night i finished the greatest track ever made, went to open the same session this morning and... no deal.. and more no deal. It just crashes as soon as it appears open! (running 6.9.2, every other session opens up perfectly)
Im guessing just this session has been corrupted..somehow. Sooo if anyone knows how to get it happening again, i would be in debt to you forever.

This is your clue -

Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001)
Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS (0x0001) at 0x201f9000

p.s. i've already tried opening the session from different drives, and even burnt it to a CD!.. no deal
Cheers.

Create another session with the same bit and sample rates and import the corrupted session audio files into the new session.

Good Luck

yeah i have had this happen to a track id just spent about 1 month working on!!!!!

i found no way of recovering the pt session file -

the only way i know is to start a new session and to painstakingly build up the track again from the audio you have recorded

this has been covered here before. try a search, but.....
have you tried to defragg your hardrives?
did you make a back up? always back up. if you finished the
killer track last night, you should have backed it up.....last night.
my rule of thumb is if i get excited about a mix or a track or
something, a little bell goes off in my head and says, back it up....now.
i use a program called beyond compare which is awesome.

also, you should always save multiple versions. everytime i make a
significant change to a track i will do a "save as" and add a number
to the end. so like "lost song 1", "lost song 2", lost song 3, etc.

so if you look in any of my folders there are usually 6-12 versions.
it is highly unlikely that all will get corrupt so if one does you can just
go back a little.

also, make sure that "auto save" is on. probably more important than the stuff above.
i set it to save every 3 or 4 minutes. quite often i need to go back and restore from
an auto saved version.

hope this helps.
good luck.

do what Bender says. i've had to do this plenty of times and it works wonders. sometimes your session is corrupt coz of plug-in errors on tracks, so it may be smart to import the tracks a few at a time to find out which one is the ugly one. thats how i've done it anyway....

Do you have the automatic session backups on?

Those are in a different folder inside your project folder and are a real lifesaver sometimes.

You can import session data one track at a time, then when you get any errors, just skip that\those tracks.

Do you know how to do this? Do you need help with that?

I thought defraging the audio drive was a huge NO NO! I allways backed up the drive, then reformated, then pasted back the drives files.

Heres a wierd work around I did once. I burned a copy of the corrupt session to a disk and copied it on to my Mac Mini that has LE installed. I was able to open the session on the Mac. I then did a Save sessiona as. Then I tranfered the session copy back on to my main rig and it opened!

Bit of work but it fixed the session....
