Easiest Way for 5.1
Working on a low-budget film. Was curious as to what the easiest interface/ set up I could use for doing this. I have PT10HD IF i got an mbox pro (6 outputs) could i use that as my 5.1 volume controller? the 6 outs going to their respective speakers? would this work. has anyone tried this?

Re: Easiest Way for 5.1
Yes, the Mbox 3 Pro will allow you to assign the monitor section (volume, mute, etc.) to all 6 outputs for 5.1 monitoring.
Other 3rd party interfaces that also allow this would be the Focusrite Saffire 40 and 56, and Scarlett 18i20, and (more expensive) Apogee Quartet and Ensemble. There may be others but I can't think of them right now. Just thought I'd mention those, because the Focusrite stuff is cheaper, and you already have Protools software, so you may not want to pay for the Mbox Pro bundled with the software (which is the only way it's sold). |
