Cant control protools with an Axiom 49
Hi everyone.
I just got a MIDI controller. Axiom 49 by M-Audio. I want Protools to recognize its knobs or sliders. And most of all, I'd like to assign its transport buttons to control protools's ones. What I got: Software: Running Protools (obviosly) ver 6.1 on a PC. HW interfase: Mbox (not Mbox 2 so it doesnt have MIDI ports) MIDI Keyboard: Axiom 49 How I set it up: The Axiom is attached to the PC via USB. I set the axiom to its preset # 15 (which is the "GM sequencer mixer set up that is supposed to work on protools). I "turned on" the MIDI machine control feature at the Peripherials menu. BUT it does not work. Anyone has an idea of why its not working? Could it be that ver 6.1 does not support remote transport control from a MIDI keyboard or any other MIDI controller?? Thanks in advance, Im kind of a rookie when it comes to MIDI over at protools. |

Re: Cant control protools with an Axiom 49
I've got the older version...m-audio radium 49. It doesn't have transport buttons, just 8 knobs and 8 sliders. They're easy to configure for a vi like Stike...just right-click an on-screen knob, select 'learn' , and move a knob on the radium.
I use the Frontier 'Alpha Track' for transport and channel control...thus I've never had to actually 'configure' the radium. Just click and learn. There is a DUC member here...spkguitar...who could likely help you get set up, but I haven't seen him around here for a while. When he returns, I'm sure he'll browse through and answer a lot of the 'unanswered questions' He really knows protools inside and out. He's also got a pt newbie website that has a lot of great info.. here

Re: Cant control protools with an Axiom 49
Hey! thats great info!!
I checked that link you provided and searched for my issue, turns out it was addressed at http://ptnewbie.com/?p=79 However, it did not work because mine is an axiom 49, not an axiom 25. I think thats the main reason. What happens is, that after uploading the controller file to the axiom and setting up Protools to work with the CS10 set up, Pro tools crashes down. Any thoughts on that? Thank you! |

Re: Cant control protools with an Axiom 49
A note on his site says 'for version 7.0 and higher'. That might be part of the problem as I see you're on 6.1. Other than that, I can't be of much help......ever consider upgrading to 7.0 or higher?? There is a lot of improved midi features, the one I really like is instrument tracks....a combination of a midi and aux track which really simplifies using vi's
