On Mac OS, download a program called Find Any File. Set it to search all local disks for files that end in .ptx.

It sounds to me like you may have got confused what the session folder was. The session folder will always have the .ptx file along with a folder for Audio Files, Plug-in Settings, Session File Backups and then a WaveCache.wfm file.

Sometimes Pro Tools will create another folder with your project name on another hard drive or location to put Audio Files in it. I think this happens when the drive is either too slow to keep up with Pro Tools, or permissions are not set to write in the session folder, or you have disk allocation set-up to do this (or maybe some other reason).

Is it possible that you may have just grabbed one of these folders instead of your actual session folder?

What about for PC? I have a few ptx files missing also. I found a few in the recent files folder but a couple have yet to turn up.

Do a search for the name.ptx on the entire PC or *.ptx if you want to find all the ptx files.

Cheers,

I never found the files. I did a .ptx search. And I got nothing. Maybe I lost them from allocating but the session folders where still there. I tried data partition restore software. But still no luck with the .ptx file.
