Default Pro Tools 10.3.7 Crashing at Start Up Crash Report here!

Hi there,

I am new posting but now new reading. I have a particular session with quite a few instances of Maschine 2 running as a plug in that won't start on my PT 10.3.7 HDX on my Mac Pro 8 core Nehalem with 32gb memory. I can open the session fine in my macbook pro 2011 with only 8gb ram.

Please find below crash report in several parts due to size limitation:

I appreciate if anyone could point me into the right direction on how to resolve this issue.

Many thanks!!

Default Re: Pro Tools 10.3.7 Crashing at Start Up Crash Report here!

I can't post the entire crash report nor can I attach a pdf file due to size. I am not sure how to post it here since we have the file size limitation. I will be happy to send via email if anyone would be interested in taking a look at it.

I appreciate the help.

Louis

Default Re: Pro Tools 10.3.7 Crashing at Start Up Crash Report here!

Well the leading suspect is clearly the AAX-32 Maschine 2 plugin

Are *all* of your plugins up to date?

As always try trashing prefs and databases. See the troubleshooting steps under the "Help us Help You - READ THIS Before Posting!" link above on this web page. Do this frequently as you try other things.

Is this only a problem with one specific session or many session? Or does somethign similar ever happen before any session is open (it looks like it is in a session from this crash)?

I would remove that Maschine 2 AAX-32 plugin from the AAX plugin folder and see if Pro Tools still misbehaves. You coudl try an RTAS version of Maschine but I gather there is no RTAS support in 2.0, maybe you could try the RTAS plugins from the version (1.8?). I have no idea if they are officially supported in Pro Tools 10 or not or have known problems etc. If nothign there works better then remove all third paty plguns from both he RTAS and AAX folders and see if you get Pro Tools stable. Try a new empty session (not a copy, not from template). Try also doing that from a newly created admin account.

As always with plugin problems you should start with the plugin vendor. Check their forums and report your problem to NI support and see what they say.

Darryl,

Thanks for the reply and suggestions.

Pro tools is pretty solid here, however my problem is with this particular session and only when using my mac pro/hdx. I can open the same session with all Maschine plugins running just fine on my mackbook pro with 8gb ram, so I am quite surprised that this mac pro with 32gb and hdx won't let me open this session. All my plug ins are up to date and maschine has been running fine on both computers, so at this point I am suspecting that HDX could be the culprit?? or perhaps CPU limitations? I will try your suggestions and see if I make any progress. Anyone else with similar experiences, please feel free to share your thoughts. Thanks.

I it is just this one session then I would first suspect corruption as a part of the issue even if it appears to be OK on another machine, can you can try creating a new session and importing the content. If that solves it you are set.

You are right, it could well be somethign else than the plugin, but the goal is to try to see if you can exclude stuff even more. It could still be plugin bug, things just don't trip up because you have different amounts of memory, or when a native plugin is replaced by AAX it moves lots of other stuff around in memory, so sometimes bugs in plugins scribling on or reading the wrong memory addresses change in the effect on Pro Tools or don't happen at all. Or it may be a bug in another plugin causing Maschine 2 to crash Pro Tools. But doing those plugin tests may still be helpful, and certainly trashing prefs and databases is worthwhile to do between other tests.

Exclamation Re: Pro Tools 10.3.7 Crashing at Start Up Crash Report here!

I have found Native Instruments to be unstable with Pro Tools v10. It's clearly implicated in your first crash report. I would open up a ticket with Native Instruments.

After spending a lot of time trying to figure out the problem I re-installed the latest update patch of Maschine 2 and the problem was solved. I am not sure if the first install was bad or if I missed a step but it worked.

I appreciate all the help.
