Default 001 and video capture (eg. Matrox RT2500)

Hi all,

I'm investigating getting into some "prosumer" level video stuff. (This is what the video mags call it.) Mini DV, 3CCD camcorder, and something like a Matrox RT2500 capture and editing package (comes with Adobe Premiere 6).

The Matrox is a PCI video capture card which includes a breakout box for various video i/0 including firewire. Anybody have stuff like this co-existing comfortably?

It's been quite interesting to start reading about this stuff. We can talk about audio all day and never enter the video world (except to trash MTV (or Much Music here in Canada) and I'll add my "Amen" to that), but you quickly realize how important audio is in the video world. Each magazine I looked at had an audio column or feature.

Hello
I run both the Digi and Adobe Premiere on my P4 and have had no trouble at all. Although I do have seperate hard drives for each application.

Thanks for the response. It's encouraging.

I don't expect the software to be the issue however. There are three or four companies in the running which market a PCI card that includes firewire, some real-time, card based processing power, and software (like Premiere). Kind of like a cross between Digi001 and TDM. Matrox is just one. Others would be Canopus DVstorm and products by Pinnacle.

I'm just worried about all the cards finding the right seat on the bus, as it were. Any more thoughts out there? My allegience is, of course, to my Digi001.

Asus makes videocards that can capture incoming composite video signal. I don't know if that's what you are working with, but I mention the older V7700 from Asus, which isn't sold anymore. Then you have the V8200 which still sells, and as far as I know, these cards can peacefully exist near the 001, because they go for VGA card.

I Run Video and Audio on My computer, Digi 001 and Media Studio Pro. I usually only run 1 at a time though. The video programs are kinda picky and don't like a lot of stuff on my computer. For that matter I think I did more work to make the Digi compatible. Media Studio Pro 6.5 is the Competition to Premier. They both have Pros and Cons, You Decide. I bought the ADS PYRO PRO DV setup here, http://www.unbeatable.com/products/c.../DVEditing.asp go to the intermediate site. You can check out Media Studio PRO at http://www.ulead.com/msp/runme.htm and they also have a user site at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mug-sw http://www.mugcentral.com
and no I am not a representative of Ulead or any Site I have listed
