Advice - iMac purchase
Hi all
I'm purchasing a dedicated recording machine - and I'm looking at the iMac (currently i use MacBook) Are their any gotcha's out there when deciding which spec to go for? I'm aiming to get the i5 2.5Ghz with 500Gb HD and 8Gb ram - and use this with Digi003. So far only concern is that they ship with Lion, and i need Snow Leopard. |

Re: Advice - iMac purchase
Any of the Imacs will be great. There is something to note about them, the I5's do not have hyper-threading, which allows the computer to see double the amount of (virtual) cores. Only the I7's have them (this is not the case with the Macbook Pros or Mac Mini). The I7's would definitely add some cost, though.
Also, the thing with Lion, is that there is no way to downgrade to something lower. So you may want to upgrade Protools. If you're still on PT8, audiomidi.com has a sale for the LE to PT10 crossgrade for $399, only through tomorrow (Feb. 8th). That's probably the best deal you're going to see. |
