Default Faders fighting back

Hello.

My Command|8 has started fighting back.

Today when I started working, the faders would resist movement, and often spring back to their original position when I moved them.

I did a little poking around, and they behave this way whether or not there is a session open, or a USB cable plugged in.

Stand alone mode also.

Repeated restarts etc don't change the issue.

Firmware 02.01.02
Bootloader 1.2
USB 2.

What's next?

Also, now that I've run some tests, one of the faders doesn't sit at the bottom anymore at the end of the fader calibration - it's about 1/2" off the bottom of the travel, and returns there whenever I move it.

yarrrrrrr

ok i got it fixed i first thought it was a hard ware problem but it turned out to be a firmware so i just reinstalled it. mind you only reinstall firm ware if you absolutely have to cuz in some cases if it goes wrong it wont be fun to fix it.

problem check list used to trouble shoot your pro tools setup
1.check thoroughly all the settings under the set up tab if this dose not work
2.check the hard ware (cables n indicator lights and hard ware tests) if this dose not work
3.check reinstall the firmware
4.if this dose not work lol your #¤"!ed and need some one to physically help you

installing firm ware
1.make sure all the needed drivers are installed on the computer
2.make sure power coming in is constant (use a ups if you have one)
3.Download the latest firm ware
4. lol run it

yo i hope this helps it worked for me javascript:void(0)

bit off question, but can someone explain what is actually BOOTLOADER ?
I bought mine C8 allmost 3 months ago, and I have bootloader version 1.0
Has that anything to do with C8 functionality?

Guys,

Forget all your attempts with firmware etc... After 2 years of fighting faders on 3 Dcommands, in different studios and 1 of them even in a different building. We tried every thing you can mention, (including licking Fingers!!!!) even had the faders removed and cleaned. Still they would not function correctly.
Finally we were given the faders from the new ES Icon range and low and behold.........3 working Dcommands.
I posted rants about this over the past 2 years and was close to giving up before this remedy was recommended. It all makes sense when you analyse it, there is not THAT much of a difference between the "OLD" icon range and the "New" ES range is there? New colour, few extra functions, but enough changes to release a new range??????? Its because there is a fault with the faders!!!!!!! Its soooo obvious. And getting these new faders has only proven this. What gets me is, think about how much money our company has invested in putting 3 HD systems in.... and it took 2 years and our own wit to resolve this. Digidesign did nothing!!!!!!!!!
Very negative post i am afraid, but i feel for other people with this problem as it has driven me away from my Pro Tools happy place. You start to look a fool in front of very high paying clients when you cannot control you levels and Digi seem to forget this. I am just lucky that i am in a company that can afford to get this fixed under the very expensive warranty scheme
(hmmmmmmm dodgy equipment and warranty suddenly released!!!!)
smaller studios have no chance.

Rant over
