Virtual soundcheck with no stage rack?
I'm about to be on tour with a Profile at FOH, and Midas Pro2 at monitors.. It's a bus trailer tour so to save space and money we've eliminated a splitter and stage rack and I am going MADI into the Midas preamps from the FOH rack.
Will virtual soundcheck still work the same way if I use Fwx into my laptop? |

Re: Virtual soundcheck with no stage rack?
If you are trying to use your laptop running the Venue software, then no, virtual soundcheck will not work. The laptop software is for offline editing and has no way of interfacing with an online system.
If you are referring to using your laptop as the source running Pro Tools, then yes you can use that for virtual soundcheck. However you are limited to 18in/18out unless you have PT10 and version 3.0+ software. Then the firewire can run 32 channels. The firewire doesnt really work the same way as virtual soundcheck though because of the channel limitations and the source is usually about -10db down from what the mic pre will have. Virtual soundcheck is usually a 1-to-1 replacement over the mic pre's for working on tweaks and so forth with PT HD. I hope that answers your question. |
