Default unable to play Vacuum via instrument track

Hi all,

I am unable to get a signal from Vacume via a written MIDI (instrument) track.

Addictive Drums is running in a separate track with no problems.

This is the set up:
Instrument track > Vacume (insert a) > Vacume is selected as output > MIDI notes written on track and highlighted blue.

When I press Play the first note plays then the instrument stops coming through.
The level doesn't show in the mix or edit window. It does however show in the Instrument section on the mix window.

I can control Vacume with my Axiom 61.

I have trashed AMS.

Cheers in advance

Not entirely sure I understand everything you're saying.. but here goes anyways...

Create and instrument track and instantiate Vacuum.
Set the OUTPUT of the midi track that you have to Vacuum Channel 1 (I think).
Set the OUTPUT of the Instrument track to analog 1/2..

You should have sound.

Conversely, Highlight all of your midi and copy it to the instrument track, that too, should work if the OUTPUT of the instrument track is set to your main out.

Hope that helps.

440Hz, create a new session and Instrument track and Insert Vacuum, record a performance and play it back. Will it playback?

Thanks for the very quick reply.

The set up is already as you suggested, however I did start another track and re initiate Vacume and copy MIDI over.........

Start a new session. Can you post a screen shot of the whole Vacuum plug-in window?

Hi filosofem,

Thanks very much for your help!!

As suggested I started a new session, Instrument track and inserted Vacume and recorded a performance. It will play back notes that are BELOW middle C, but nothing above......????
What gives?

Run through these:

Delete Pro Tools preferences.
-Go to Users > “your user name” > Library > Preferences
-Delete 'com.digidesign.protoolsLE.plist', 'DAE Prefs' (folder), 'DigiSetup.OSX' and 'Pro Tools preferences'.

Delete Databases and Volumes

-Delete the "Digidesign Databases" folders on the first level of all mounted hard drives.
-Delete the "Volumes" folder:
Pro Tools versions 7.3 and earlier it's located in MacHD > Library > Application Support > Digidesign > Databases.
Pro Tools 7.4 and higher will find it in MacHD > Library > Application Support > Digidesign > Databases > Unicode.

Go to MacHD>Users>your account>Library>Preferences>By Host and trash 'com.apple.midi.a bunch of numbers and letters.plist'.
Go to MacHD>Users>your account>Library>Preferences and trash 'com.apple.audio.audiomidisetup.plist'.

Empty the trash and restart and try again.

OK

Did all that...... think I've been through that process about 10 times now.

Re opened recent session and still no joy....

MIDI notes ABOVE middle C will not play from the RECORDED MIDI Instrument track, but WILL play directly from the Axiom

OK

I just opened a new session with only an Instrument track and Click

Vacume on insert a and selected in ouput.
I recorded MIDI notes above middle C (which were audible at the time of recording) AND MIDI notes below middle C (also audible at time of recording)

On playback (record disarmed of course) ONLY notes below middle C will play.

I was going to suggest making sure the key range on the Axiom is set C1-G5 but if you hear the notes when recording it's not that. You're talking about playback only will not play above Mid C. That is really strange. Try (just to humor us) to record directly to an audio track by routing/bussing the output of the inst track to it. If it records audio above C........??????
