Default Fast server to upload big files

Hi,

I'm looking for a way to send big files over the internet, I need a fast server/provider to send video and audio mixdown to the video editor. I don't want to have to wait for hours for files to be uploaded.
Digidelivery is really too expensive for me.
I know ther's a lot of people here on the DUC who use internet to exchange big files, your help would be really helpfull for me.

Thanks for your time

Pascal

Hallo Pascal,

Do you know YouSendit? It allows you to send huge files to any e-mailaddress. If you can't run your own FTP server, this is a very nice solution. We use both FTP and Yousendit and I must say it is very nice, you can even brand it with your own company logo and all...

check www.yousendit.com

Groeten,

Barnier

Why not Digidelivery? It works great and is easy to use.

Thanks for your replies.

I'll check "you send it" to see if it is faster than my current ftp server.
Pascal, Digidelivery is certainly the best solution but it is simply too expensive for me at the moment.
I'm looking for a cheaper way to upload and download big files and not spend too many hours waiting for them.

I've had much success with 'you send it'. It's great, as you can send files to several people at once, and with the free option the files stay live for a week.

You could allways buy your own website - upload your files and send a link to the reciver. I do it like this and it works great and is a cheap alternative to digidelivery. I pay just a litle over one dollar a month for one gig af space at www.one.com.

If you pay for yousendit it´s only 2GB per month (100MB with a free account). Not very much if you have to send QTs and audio back and forth...

You may want to check this out:
http://www.hamachi.cc/

Hamachi allows you to setup a VPN. People can directly login into your computer (user defined files / folder etc) and then download the files. It is secure, easy to configure and can easily transverse firewalls etc...

... it is also free.

Cheers!

Interesting. The website says

"Hamachi is secure. All Hamachi communications are encrypted and authenticated with industry-standard algorithms and protocols. Nobody will be able to see what two Hamachi peers are talking about. Not even us."

Hope the "not even us" is true.

frank.
