Go to "computer" and select the offending hard drive. Right click on it and rename it with something shorter than 11 characters and spaces. Do Not change the drive letter.

Thanks in advance, but remember STEP by STEP.
Open MyComputer. now you should see all your drives(C:, D:, etc) with the names for each drive. If any drive has a name longer than 11 characters, right-click on that drive and select Rename. Give it a new name that is shorter and hit Enter.

No not the drive letter, the full drive/parition name. If you are getting this error you absolutely do have names longer than 11 characters somewhere. The name is all that stuff next to the drive letter when you look at the volumes in say "My Computer". Right click on the icon and select properties and change any long name to a shorter name.

Networks share other long paths may be upsetting things.

If that is not clear, post a screen shot of your "My computer" folder clear enough for us to read all the disk names.
