Desperate to record again...6004 error code breaking my spirit!!!

Greetings Fine DUC Folks,

I posted this problem a few months ago, but didn't get any bites!!! I know that most people have moved on from the DIGI 001 years ago, but budgetary issues mean that it's my only option to get back recording.....which I am absolutely desperate to do!!!

Thanks in advance to anyone who has some input on this one.

Basic synopsis is as follows (Sandra report at the bottom):
1. Purchased new/old computer to try and get my old Digi 001 up and running with pro tools 6.4 LE, on windows xp sp3.
2. I have installed the cs6 and cs9 updates and downloaded the latest pace drivers.
3. I have tried the DIGI 001 in both PCI slots.
4. When launching pro tools, I continually get a “dae was unable to communicate with audio hardware. Please sace your session and restart your computer -6004” error message.
5. I have manually trashed preferences, but could be doing this incorrectly.
6. I have tried reversing the connector cable, but no luck there.
7. The green led indicator light on the 001 is on.
8. I've checked other posts, and it seems like the motherboard should be ok (Asus P5B-VM).......in fact I thought I had done my research and specifically bought this computer second hand thinking it would be compatible, as I've been stung before.
9. I've also tried my Original MBox in the same system, and I get the same message.

I'm thinking that I'm either not correctly disabling the onboard graphics, or there is some other setting I need to get right.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Sounds like an incompatibility issue to me.

Have you first tried opening PT using the drivers that came on the installer disk before updating them?

I would also try disabling on-board Audio device in BIOS.

I trust you're recording sessions to a separate drive?
