Default Computer rack mountable case. Good idea?

I'm thinking of buying a computer rack mountable case for my PC. I want a more portable set up. It would be nice to have my DIGI001, preamps, compressors and computer in a 12U case! Now my question is, does anyone here use these cases? Are there any major flaws about them? Heating problems??? Let me know cause they are quite expensive!

Okay... They're heavy for a start and very deep so It wouldn't be a standard size case.. mine is by far the deepest thing in my rack....It a real pain in the a** to get in to work inside them...
Did I mention the weight?

Portable would not be my main adjective about rack PC cases...

We rackmounted our computer a few months back. It helps us so much since we're a portable studio. Sure, it adds some weight and it'll be deeper than anything else in your rack, but it can be very nice. I was so happy once I found an affordable one.

I got ours from shopping.yahoo.com by Akida Computer. It was only $99 without a power supply. The only thing I stress is make sure it's not seeper than your rack before you order, and put it at the bottom of your rack.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">So your saying that the case caused more problems than good in your instance? Is it not worth the weight to have your computer rackmounted?

the problem with rackmount computer portability is the keyboard/mouse/monitor to go with it. check this solution out: http://www.42u.com/rose_rackview.htm

They really are sweet.

No mention of PCI though...

I'm not sure if I'm happy with the rack case.. I feel with all the money I've spent I've have been much happier buying a Carillon Computer (as seen in Sound On Sound mag...
