Default 12.4 Crashing when opening templates
If I try to create a session by double clicking a ptxt file. Pro Tools crashes. This is happening since installing 12.4. Across multiple (identical) systems.

Anyone else have this?

OSX 10.10.1
Mac Pro 2013 32Gig RAM
Sonnet Chassis
HDX

Yes what did they change in this release? It now crashes when you load a template not made by 12.4.
The work around is to make a new session and then import season data.

We're having the same problem here on all of our systems. Avid, please fix ASAP.

No issues here - using templates every day, both new and (very) old. PT HDX 12.4, OSX 10.10.5.

never happens on my laptop which is on el capitan but we have 2 HDX rigs, 3 Native rigs on 10.10.5 and .ptxt files crash if you double click to open them.

  • reply here with the link
  • direct people to comment on this issue at the link to the IdeaScale post

Also, since all of you have v12.4, you most likely have active support and upgrade plans. Have any of you accessed the support portal through your avid.com account to report this issue? If the answer is "No", I suggest that someone start a thread about this at IdeaScale, and then link to that thread when reporting this to Avid via the support portal. This way they have a link that leads to a place where everyone can say "Me too!".

I have spoken to Avid regarding this issue. It's a known bug. From Avid tech support:

"This is a known issue that will be resolved in an upcoming release of Pro Tools 12. The bug number is PT-210416"

There is a workaround for opening templates with 12.4 if you are having the crashing issue:

add your template to the Misc folder:

/Users/Home/Documents/Pro Tools/Session Templates/Misc

And then..

*open from the Pro Tools File menu ~ Create New
*Check the box for Create From Template
*Choose template group Misc
*Double click on your Template
