Default midi records ahead of the beat?

Just installed pro tools 7.3 on my macbook pro with an mbox2. Using an oxygen 61 keyboard controller.

When I record midi, it's definitely recording ahead of the beat, by a noticeable margin -- about a 32nd note. I have to shift everything over after I've inputted it and it's so annoying!

How do I correct this problem? Is it a hardware thing?

Thanks.

Sounds like Latency, Check your Midi setup and lower your Buffer size in the Playback engine under setup for tracking.
It greatly depends on what system you are using and how much memory etc.

that did help... had to lower it to 128 samples. I have 1 GB 667 MHz RAM, and a 2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo machine. Just using bundled plug ins, like xpand! I think I may have trouble running at this level though -- do I need more ram?

Yes, definately, The more ram the better, If you can max out your machine you should be fine

It's funny Though, I don't have that Problem and I can Leave my Buffer size at 512 running on an Imac G5 PPC with 2.1 Gig Proc. and 1.5 Gig of ram using an M-Audio O2 thru the USB, Running PT LE 7.3.1cs3 with Digi 003, I was using an Mbox 2 mini with PT and had no issues with midi but had huge latency problems with Audio, I think it was due to the USB, so I grabbed the 003.
