I have almost 60 authorizations on my iLok- If it it went down, I do not have the time to get in touch with all those plugin vendors to sort out new demos etc- I think that if you can afford the cost of it, it is a good way to potential avert a more longer winded disaster if the iLok fails.

just my take on this... And the fee can be written off anyway.

I've got it.
$25pa is worth it to save the possible hassle.

I used to spread my plug-ins around between several iLoks, so if I had problems it would not be the entire show. Now I keep everything on one iLok and thats the only one with Zero Downtime (others I use for old plug-ins, demos, etc.). I've had my main iLok go bad, and the Zero Downtime deal is the way to go.

Don't hate the player, hate the game.

Yes I put them all on one iLok as well, and then covered that one with the zero-down time coverage.

What about Waves' plug-ins? Do you keep them on the same iLok? Since they don't participate in the zero down time plan they recommend that you use a separate iLok for their plug-ins. Do you see any disadvantage to not having their authorizations on a separate iLok?

I don't. I have my plugins on TWO iLoks to mitigate the risk somewhat.

If an iLok goes down, it should be a simple matter to do a demo authorization on the alternate iLok or to a new, fresh iLok. I would hope it could be sorted out within 14 days.

IMHO, a business model where tech support or "insurance" is a profit centre provides no incentive for making a high quality product. In fact, they do better if they make a truly crappy product.

(Not referring to P*ce specifically, just the proverbial "they".)

Yes I do keep Waves on its own iLok. If you have a failure then Waves wants the bad iLok not Pace. Waves is not covered with Zero Downtime.
