DJ Hellfire,
Were you planning on doing anything as far as HVAC (cool, heat, ventilation, etc.)? |

Re: Building a dual wall Isolation Booth. Progress thread!
Nah! The garage is detached so there is no HVAC out there. I have an electric heater and window ac! Anything else is out of budget! Figure I'll just leave the doors open between takes. Beat's no ac/heat at all while recording like it was before the booth! Gonna update todays progress later. The rain slowed our progress so we finished early!

You might can get a mini split system for a reasonable price.

Man that is really starting to shape up!!! No sound should get in or out of that. Are you going to use double door config?

Re: Building a dual wall Isolation Booth. Progress thread!
I noticed on the thread on the studio design site, you said you couldn't de-couple the ceiling due to budget and height. To help with isolation what you could do is, up in the ceiling, add some 2 x 6 (if that's the size of your joists) pieces perpendicular to and in between the joists directly above the walls that separate the booth from the control room. Then lay some plywood or 5/8 drywall down in the ceiling over your insulation and box it in. As it is now, you have one layer of 1/2" drywall in your control room with some insulation sitting on top of it. So you speaker sound will travel up into the ceiling. If you at least box in the area above the booth it will have a harder time traveling back down through the booth ceiling.
