HEAT sounds appropriately subtle when you drop the level of each track down to -20dBFS=0VU or lower with clip-gain and then mix with it on. It doesn't sound good when hitting it any higher than that or after the fact on a mix.

I find this interesting (as someone who's never got on with it). Presumably you have the knobs on their minimal settings too?

This is priceless

I used to use it with PT 8-10, don't have the license anymore. The integration part is actually nice, but there are many other (don't wanna say "better") options nowadays (VTM+VMR, Sonimus, SDDR, Kazrog TrueIron, BX Saturator, Phil's Cascade, Waves NLS etc.). Efficiency is a strong point for HEAT, not the sound.

This should definitely come free with Ultimate plans, soon it'll be $799/year anyway.

And how do you find HEAT? Or is this just a “I’m a better engineer than you lot” statement?

Yeah I saw that but I have no regrets - I love HEAT. At first I was using HEAT's tube saturation (drive turned to right / clockwise) but now I set HEAT to tape saturation (drive knob to left / counterclockwise) and it feels more smooth and pleasant. It's all about the SOUND (which is wonderful) but the tight / seamless integration in Pro Tools allows HEAT to really be set it and forget it.... either recording or jamming HEAT is on all the time!

Sounds pretty good from the demos I’ve seen/heard, I’ll be grabbing the lic as soon as it comes available. Thanks for your feedback

Couldn't heat just be set to post insert for the track with melodyne? After all it's an insert effect that still goes through the mixer.
