Default PT 9 on Windows 7 - interface problem

Ok, so now I am trying to use ProTools 9 on a Windows 7 notebook, but PT won't open because it can not find an interface. I just want to use the default soundcard on the notebook, but it wants to you MOTU interface, which is not connected. When PT starts up it shows the playback window, but there is no way to change the interface, and the only option is to Quit. . . What is a guy to do?

Hi,

can you go to playback engine settings and select another audio device in the pulldown list? if not then it sounds like the computer hasn't got a compliant asio driver installed.

Chris
The message is "The selected ASIO audio device could not be initialized. Please choose another audio device." with the option Quit (which kills ProTools) or OK, which opens the playback engine dialog but there is nothing to change except the processor, delay compensation, buffer etc. . . so I am basically in a circle of silliness. I have since uninstalled the MOTU driver, but I also have the latest drivers for the M-Audio ProFire and Fastback Pro. .
