Default Very basic question #2 - Can\'t get volume level

I'm using a Mac Powerbook OSX with PTLE 7.1 and an Mbox. I set up a click track no problem, but can't get any levels for an acoustic guitar track.

On the Mbox, I've got the guitar plugged into Source 1, and the green button says 'mic' above the first volume dial.

On PT, I have Mic/Line 1 selected, and the red R flashing. Fader is up. No sound or green levels beside the fader when I strum the guitar. I've fooled with all the dials on the Mbox. Help!

The built-in Piezo pick-ups on acoustic guitars have a very low output. Some kind of pre-amp or active DI box will undoubtedly help. Alternatively, you could mic-up the guitar. Quite often the results are better than DI.

Hi Phil - I have gotten levels on it before. It's been a while since I've worked with PT, and for some reason I'm not getting anything. I'm sure it's a simple fix; I just can't remember/figure out what it is.

Nice music, btw.

Since you're not using a Mic, why would you use that setting? Try 'line' or 'inst' setting.

Make sure your gain is turned up on the M-Box, so is the mix knob, and that the Master is up on PT.

Also don't forget to check the battery in your guitar!
