Default Insert Select Focuses Plugin

My normal workflow:

I use a URS channelstrip pro on the first insert of every channel. When starting a mix I usually:

1. Set all faders to unity gain
2. make sure no custom fader modes are active.
3. while holding "do to all" push the "inserts" button on a channel strip which shows the URS csp as the first insert across all channels.
4. while holding "do to all" push "select" below the scribble strip that displays URS.
5. At this point I used to see the "input gain" (of the plugin) for all channels across the lower rotary encoders. I would use this like a trim control on a console to set my rough levels for all tracks.

Today I went to do this and instead of it working the way it used to, step3 focuses the plugin for one channel, displaying all its parameters across the rotaries. I would expect this when I actually press the "plugin" button on the focus channel section, but I'm not doing this.

How do I get it to stop focusing the plugin and instead just display a single parameter for all channels at once?

This is hard to explain without showing.

Thanks,

-Zak

Default Re: Insert select on D-command - what's changed?

OK...more info...my initial post was while working on a 7.4 session. I just rebooted to my leopard/PT8 drive and it's working as it used to. When looking through my console pref's operations softkeys, I just noticed that there is no chanPI option in the 7.4 prefs but it is there when I'm using PT8.

Obviously there are some differences here. Is it firmware or does this behavior just change between 7.4 and 8?

Thanks,

Thanks,

It's not in the firmware. It's in the D Command personality file. It's installed with the software and becomes 'active' when you declare your controller. The difference you're seeing would indeed be added functionality for D Command in Pro Tools 8

Thanks for the info Chris, that confirms what I suspected...another reason to stay in PT8 whenever possible.
