Screeching noise when record enabled via ADAT on Digi002r
This has JUST happened to me and has pretty much halted my workflow.
I have a Focusrite Octopre Platinum connected via ADAT to the back of the Digi002r in. I connect a mic up and enable 48v Phantom Power, see levels in the Focusrite, all good there. Launch ProTools session hit choose my input 9, 10 etc. and BLAM!! this sharp ear piercing noise hits me, even on ADAT inputs that have nothing connected to them. Now when I connect the mic straight into the Digi002 itself, it's fine. Yes sample rates match on both the Octopre, the 002r, etc. Clock source matches as well. I've tried jiggling the cables, emptying out ProTools prefs and restarting, still that constant ear piercing noise when I Record Enable a track happens. This is my system specs MacBook Pro 2013 running Mountain Lion 10.8.4 8GB RAM ProTools 10.3.9 Digi002r hooked up via FireWire, Focusrite Octopre via ADAT External drive for all sessions no plugins in the tracks. I'm baffled and I'm sure it's something really simple. Suggestions anyone?? |

Huh? Clock source should not match. The 002 should have the clock source as optical. The Octopre clock should be on internal.

It is set to Optical. All is good there, just when I record Enable this noise keeps happening, and it hasn't happened before.

Problem solved :) Ribbon cable on the ADAT Card on the Octopre came loose. Just remember for anyone who has an Octopre Platinum, when you move your mini-studio around, check connections. Self troubleshooting is awesome
