Default Possible to record cd played in iTunes?

I'm always getting cds, and recording snippets for samples. I'd like to be able to record audio from iTunes into PT.

Anyone know if something like this is possible?

Maybe I'm missing something, but can't you just drag files to the Track list window?

Well, I'd have to download the whole cd first, and then import the track I want. I rather just record the bit I want, without having to burn the whole cd

Out from your onboard soundcard into your PT interface.

Yes you can .., with Source Nexus

here is a link - the basic version is all you would need. You can record ANY system / or 3rd party app audio from your computer directly into Pro Tools

Just drag and drop the track you want from the Finder into ProTools and edit as needed.

??

You say you want to record a snippet of a song as a sample, but you mention burning a CD. Confused...

As others have pointed out, simply copy the file from the CD in finder to your HD, import into PT and edit away. Takes like 20 secs max.

I think the OP meant "rip".

The way it works is that iTunes will let you play the songs in iTunes, without the songs being on your HD, so they will not be in the finder.I would have to burn(rip) the cd, first then go into my finder then drag and drop from there into PT.

When you put a CD into your Mac a pop up appears asking if you want to burn the cd to your HD, if not then you can just listen to the songs in iTunes without them being in your HD.

It'd be easier to listen to the cd, then go into PT, play the portion of the song from the CD I want, and have it record into PT. Think of it as a piece of vinyl. When sampling from vinyl I'd play a portion of the song and record it into PT, through my interface(which I don't have. I'm just using my MacBook Pro atm), and then that'd be it. I'd get to work.

I've seen audioHijack, and used it! I love it! I was just wondering if there was a way I could do some internal routing, but that may not be the case.

So in conclusion, I'd like to be able to do that but with a CD, and no interface.
