installation and startup problems

Hi All,

I work for Univ of CA at Santa Barbara. we recently bought an upgrade of PT from 6.7 to 7.3.1. Went to install the new software, and the installer would install everything fine up until it reached the Pro Tools Utilities, upon which point it would give an installation error. So, ultimately, i think the Utilites did not get installed, which may be causing the next problem...

When attempting to start PT, i get the error message "Pro Tools with TDM requires the TDM Mixer plug-in in the plug-ins folder." The program then quits itself.

Was this error message regarding the TDM mixer plugin due to the fact that the Utilities wouldn't install right? What are the chances that I got a bad copy of the installation DVD from Digidesign, causing the utilities installation to fail? and, most importantly, what can i do to remedy the situation? This software is in use by many students, so to have it not working in the lab is really not good...Is there an installer around that will install just the utilities, or maybe will Digidesign allow me to download a PT 7.3.1 HD installer image?

Tim,

Un-install PT7 using the DVD. Make sure your plugs and any custom i/o setups are backed up first. You are going to wipe your PT install.

trash all database and pref files. empty trash, restart.

Then re-install.

All better now?
