1 PT9 CD.....2 iLoks?
My friend and I work on music together. We were wondering if it is possible to have 1 copy of PT9 and install it on 2 separate computers, and run it independently on each computer with 2 different iLoks so we don't have to pass one iLok between the two of us. Or does the iLok you use to install PT9 get specifically paired with that copy of PT?

The ilok asset is not tied to any specific copy of PT9 however you would both need a license to work independently at the same time on different computers. i.e. 2 iloks 2 licenses. It doesn't matter if you load PT's with the same disc or download. |

I'm 99.9% sure it's 1 computer at a time per license, not simultaneously.

You used to be able to load PTLE on 2 computers according to digi, and back then the hardware was the determining factor of whether the software worked or not. Now the PT9 authorization is loaded on the iLok. You'd both need to have your own iLok and purchase 2 licenses, as far as I've seen so far.

Re: 1 PT9 CD.....2 iLoks?
You can install PT9 on as many machines as you like but it will only run on the machine that the iLok is plugged into. If you want to run two sessions concurrently then you will have to buy two licenses of PT9 with an iLok plugged in each computer.

It's a popular subject; educating the mass on the ways of the iLok.

Re: 1 PT9 CD.....2 iLoks?
OK so the consensus is 2 licenses, 2 iLoks. and by 2 "licenses" you mean, essentially, 2 copies of the software correct? we both have PT8 and mbox2 so we would both have to pay $250 for the crossgrade, plus the cost of 2 iLoks.....?

Re: 1 PT9 CD.....2 iLoks?
Yes, you would each pay for the software, and each have your own Ilok. Then you could each install the software on as many computers as you want, but only use one at a time (the one the ilok is plugged into). This is what you'll need to do if you don't want to pass an ilok back and forth, and if you want to both be using protools on your own computers at the same time.
