Re: S1 knob always writing
Hi Eddie,
I have a case open with AVID support for this same issue.[Case : 04190462] They say my S1 is out of warranty and want me to jump through a bunch of hoops. My unit causes major panning issues wherein suddenly an entire session's tracks are panned center. Very unhelpful. So, I have retired the unit because it's too risky to have in my setup. Can you please help expedite this getting fixed? All I want is an RMA and someone who can assess the issue and fix it. I don't have time to troubleshoot it any further. Thanks, Eddie. I was relieved to find you on this thread. Cheers, Jim |

Re: S1 knob always writing
Hi Eddie,
I’m having the same issue with my S1. I bought one of the very first ones available and it had the fader timeout issue. Avid replaced it and this one has the encoder knob issue. I pay for a support and update plan so I filed a ticket however they only gave me a repair price and not an RMA. This does not seem right to me at all since they replaced a defective unit with another defective unit. Is this something you could look into as well? Just to let you informed about our case. We finally had all our 3 faulty S1s exchanged. Two of them were out of the one year warranty. We know hope that the problem won't occur in a few monthes So far so good. fingers crossed. We have been listened by Avid for that problem and that's nice ! Special thanks to Eddie. |

Re: S1 knob always writing
Hi Eddie,
The replacement S1 they just sent was clearly a refurbished one and it keeps dropping off the network when I switch sessions. I have to pull the power cord out and plug it back in after a few seconds to get it to come back on. The power switch doesn't do anything after it drops off. I replied to Avid support and asked them to please just send me a new unit but I have not gotten any response yet. This is the 3rd unit I've gotten that has had major issues. I bought it right when it was released and it had the fader time out issue, then they sent me one with the knob issue, now this one won't stay connected. I bought a second unit in March and that one has worked flawlessly. Can they just send me a new one instead of a refurb? I'm in the middle of mixing 5 different series and this is becoming a real headache. Thanks again for your help. Case #04190535 |
