Default Random problems with routing/busses and latency

Hi guys,

I've been having trouble with routing, via busses, and getting latency - not just in PT11, but PT10 also.

Some details:

Each time I start a mix I will setup my session the way I like it. This will involve, as you can imagine, various AUX tracks to keep tracks tidy etc.

Main example is with a drum kit, where I will have various kick drum mics going into one Mono AUX track, then from that AUX track there will be another Mono AUX track running via the Bus for parallel compression.
This will also happen with the snare drum and then - along with all the other drum mics - they will go into a Stereo AUX track which will be the Drum Bus.

The problem I'm getting is that usually, when I insert a plugin (let's say compressor) on one of the parallel tracks, it will immediately introduce latency.

The only way, it seems, to get around this problem is to create another AUX track for that parallel track, reroute the track and drag over the plugin. The problem is now gone.
Sometimes it can take a few more changes and it can be extremely annoying - not to mention the time it wastes!

Has anybody experienced this before?
Are there any better solutions?!

Thanks in advance for any light shed.

James

I have noticed this too.
Does it happen with delay compensation on?

Yep. Delay compensation is on and, if in PT10, on the maximum amount (obviously PT11 is already set to the max).

What do you do to get around it? The same as me - creating new AUX's?
