Default The Playback Engine only shows 512 as an option

This was the strangest thing. Everything was working. I got up the next day and went to move the playback engine from the highest setting to 128 so there would be no latency in recording. When I went to do this the only setting that was possible was 512 and thus the setting was at 512. I reinstalled the driver and that changed nothing. I am running Pro Tools 11 on Windows 8 with a Digi Rack 002.

I am baffled and have no clue what to try next.

Well both the 002 and the Win8 are not supported

Try a recent interface with win8 compatibility and you will be fine...

I have heard of people running 002's with wierd issues like that....I bet you can't even change your sampling rate either can you?

I had no issues with PT 11/12 on Windows 8.1 and using an 002 Rack. Make sure you have the latest 003 RACK driver AND your 002 Rack is for Pro Tools only and your onboard soundcard is the default for Windows sounds/audio.

Cheers,

Thank you for the advice.

I did uninstall the drivers then re-install them. Nothing really changed.

But when I went into app data and junked the preferences things got worse.
Rather than being stuck at 512 I am now stuck at 256. Now I can't bounce to disk big files nor can I go to 128 to eliminate latency when recording.

I have done lots of reading and still have no clue about what is going on.

Did you already try disabling the 002 as your main audio playback for Windows? (as The Weed suggested). And using your On-Board soundcard for everything else except Pro Tools.

Probably a dumb question, but is it totally impossible to revert to supported configuration?

I have to thank you all very much for helping me to solve this. I did unselect the 002 rack driver as the default for windows programs while lowering the bit depth level from the next higher to 16. Now I can select which ever setting I need to.

It makes one wonder, which is the best choice (assuming the desire to keep the expense at the low end of the spectrum) for an audio interface which will work best with pro tools today and is supported?

Thank you again.
