Segmentation Error?

Pro Tools freezes or quits unexpectedly giving this message:

"Segmentation fault” in thread “Main Thread” at address 0xbfffd740

I have never seen this before. Does anybody have an idea?

System is:

Dual 2.3G PowerPC G5
Mac OS 10.4.11
Pro Tools HD 7.3.1 cs7
192
Command 8

I believe one instance of this was fixed in 7.4.

I had this randomly with 7.3.1. Never occured with 7.4. 7.4cs7 is VERY stable here.

It just happens randomly. During recording, after stopping recording, closing session..It seems to have appeared out of nowhere really.
I can't recall any mods to the system since it's been solid.

I think you have a few options here. You can help us try to identify the problem by letting us know which of the General Troubleshooting steps you've done and by giving us a complete system profile - including number and types of drives used, your installed plug-in version list, how you have everything connected and as much detail as possible about the times when this occurs the most.

Quick question - do you possibly have more than 100 markers in your session(s)? Are you using Sound Miner at all?

Another option is to upgrade to 7.4, which may help.

I also have been getting these segmentation fault errors. It seems random enough that finding reproducable steps would be hard to do, although it almost always happens when I quit. I'd be interestsed to see what happens here...

I have installed cs8 today. So far I haven't seen the error messages. We'll see. Fingers crossed.
