Can everyone who is experiencing this please post a Sandra report as well as provide specific information on which of the troubleshooting and optimizations you've done from the General Troubleshooting thread?

We don't see this problem on our machines, so we need to try to commonalities between the systems experiencing it.

I got a significant improvement from changing visual effects from "best performance" to "best appearance" which somebody here on the DUC had noticed.

Thought I'd chime in and finally be able to say thanks to Digi. It's been a long time coming but my PT8 is now running fine on my laptop I am experiencing the program focus issue that others have mentioned relating to CPU usage but for right now it's not an issue for me. I can do what I need to finally. If the focus issue does become a problem for me, I'll be back.

Again, thanks Digi for making things right (mostly).

I see some of the graphics issues on my system. Does anyone know if it was supposed to have been addressed in 8.01 or is it being worked?

Can you be more specific about which 'graphics issues' you're experiencing?

i have had that problem before as well, usually after opening a session. usually you have to close the edit and mix windows and try again

this is my major CPU pet peeve though: http://duc.digidesign.com/showthread...wpost&t=255295

CPU pegs at 100% after saving a session (even a blank session) whenever the edit window is minimized. This happens every time.. not some random "once in a while" type bug.

"Graphics Issues"

I dont know if this is just typical with PT or is an issue. I have tried this with other things on my system, and I do not see anything similar in any other program I have (Cubase 4.52, REAPER, etc). I mean there is of course CPU usage, but not the order of magnitude that PT seems to have.

All the examples are with Windows Task Manager open to "Performance" so I can see the CPU usage trends.
Idle is about 3% not doing anything, regardless if the PT window has focus or not.

I don't have any problems with latency, playing / recording audio etc. Program feels very solid.

Examples:
If I open the score editor and add a few notes (this in a new project, nothing else), I get 20-40% CPU usage as I drag or enter the notes on the score. Seems exhorbitant usage to me, but I am new to PT.

If I insert the PT EQ and turn a knob I get 40% spikes while I turn the knob.

That kind of stuff. Just seems like there is some issue with the PT graphics. Like I said, this does NOT happen with *any* other program.
