Default Connecting a Dj Mixer to the 002 rack

Ok so i figured i could hook up my Dj set up into Proo Tools and and record my mixes and touch them up in Pro Tools. I used an rca to 1/4 inch cable to connect my Vestax 05pro mixer to the 002rack. (Side Question: when i go to assign an input to a track i only get mic/line 1 and 2...what happened to 3 and 4..and line/analog 5, 6, 7, 8?! why won't it let me use those) So anyway i used it in mic/line 2 and i get sound when in record ready but it sounds like ****tt. (phantom power is off..it's selected to line and not mic..etc)..maybe cuz its an unbalanced cable.?! How do i remedy this?! thanks for any input..

OK i jus did a lil further troubleshooting b4 i decided to post and stumbled across this...When i unplugged the white rca cable and jus touched it with the side of the female rca on the mixer the sound quality sounded the way it should...so is this uz its an unblanaced cable?!?..and is their a better way to fix this then the ghetto way i'm about to do which is jus tape the cable so its jus touching the outside and not actually plugged all the way in..?!???...thanks again.

Go into your hardware setup, either reset the default, or assign them manually.

Sounds like either a grounding issue, or a short. Have your tried a different cable? Once you've set your hardware setup, what happens when you try line 5,6?
