Default 003R / PT11 / PT10 Issues

Firstly, let me apologize if this has been addressed, or isn't in the correct section. I tried some searches, but couldn't quite find the exact information I am looking for.

So, I upgraded to a PT11 / 10 co-install on a Win7 PC, with an 003R as my interface. Initially, I didn't have any issues. After a couple of weeks, I started getting weird errors, perhaps coinciding with connecting an external pre via lightpipe (I know it sounds odd, but it seems to fit the timeline).

The primary issue is that, upon attempting to open, or create, a session in PT11, I am given an error message that the playback engine doesn't support whatever resolution I am attempting to use (48, or 96k). This persists even if I try 44.1. When I attempt to change any setting in the "Hardware Setup" window, the "Sample Rate" field is greyed-out, and I cannot change it. Nor can I select a clock source other than "internal". Occasionally, I also get an error stating that the I/O channel-count has changed, and that I must re-start PT, at which point it crashes, and sends an error report to Avid.

I have found an interesting work-around, but it is far from ideal. Usually, if I open PT10, and go to "Hardware Setup", and reset all of the parameters, I can then close, go back into PT11, and open a session without any error message. At first, all I had to do was open PT10, close it, and go back into 11, and it would work. Now, I have to go through the extra step of fiddling with the hardware.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on? I have the latest 003R firmware, and the latest PT11 update. Did clocking to the external preamp via ADAT lightpipe somehow change a default in the 003, or some inaccessible PT11 file? Why is its operation contingent upon setup in PT10? I never had any issues with previous PT versions on this system over the past five or so years. 10, by itself, works 99% of the time. Like I said, it seems to have really started manifesting after connect the external preamp.

Here is a system overview:

Default Re: 003R / PT11 / PT10 Issues

I'm having the same problem with PT 12.4 and 003R.

I tried all the drivers for the 003, including asio4all.

I tried all the drivers for the firewire card.

I changed the firewire card, the cable, the ports, even formatted my computer and reinstalled everything. It still doesn't work.

Tried contacting Avid with a valid support code. It's been days, still haven't heard back.

I had problems of that nature, but it was due to a 3rd party interface and PT not playing nice.

First i would try running off the ASIO as the playback engine...do you have issues?

If not then create the new session in PT11 with ASIO as the playback, did it?

Then once created then switch to the 003r, as the playback.

Are you using a TI firewire card? I dont' think i saw FW in the sandra. Thanks for that btw. Also what version of 11? and what version of 10?

Make really really certain you have the correct driver! I'm running an 003 Console on Win 7, previously with a 10-11 coinstall, and now with PT 12.4 HD without a hiccup EVER. There's no reason to use ASIO 4all.
Are you using the 9.0.7 driver, or the 9.0.8 driver?
Did you go into Control Panel and make sure Windows isn't designating the 003 as the default sound device?

Default Re: 003R / PT11 / PT10 Issues

Almost a year later, and I still haven't been able to resolve the issue. I haven't changed anything, except going to PT12. As it stands, I almost always have to open PT10, manually change the settings from 44.1, close, and open PT12. Occasionally, it doesn't work, and I have to repeat the process. Everything runs perfectly fine, otherwise. So, I just gave up trying to fix it. However, now that this thread has been revived, I may go back and see if I can find something.
