Default PT8 version question

i. I'm getting ready to install PT8 on a computer (OS 10.6.8) for mastering purposes. I noticed that PT 8.0.5 is supposed to be good through OS 10.6.8 whereas the newer version PT 8.1.1 is listed as good only through OS 10.6.7 per Avid's website. Does anyone remember why this is? I was planning on using PT 8.0.5, but thought I would check with DUC first.
Thanks.
Jeff

Perhaps 8.0.5 has been released later and therefore tested against 10.6.8 whereas 8.1.1 might be older version not tested against it. That said, I'm 99.9% sure that 8.1.1 works very well with 10.6.8 tested or not.

Thanks, JFreak. Based on your comment and others I think I'll go with 8.1.1.

I'd go that way too, because 8.1 has HEAT -- unless I had a G5 which requires 8.0 and doesn't support HEAT

Do what makes the most sense for you, but, having mastered in PT and in Wavelab, I'll use Wavelab every time

Thanks, Albee1952. Actually, I will be using DSPQuattro for mastering and compilation. PT will be installed just in case I might need a certain plug-in or editing function. I will also look into Wavelab, though. I will be using the Core Audio from PT, too.
