I've never tried to do exactly this but shouldn't you be able to setup the Hardware and IO panels to do this?

Basically Mirror the outputs of Ch1-8 to the ADAT connections? I assumed this was possible.....maybe I am wrong but definitely worth poking around in there to try to find out.

But if push comes to shove and all you have to do is create another track and assign in/outs....it's not a major setback.

Well, I tried assigning the 192 outputs to ADAT but no go, so apparently there's no internal path from A/D to ADAT out. My guess is those are only addressable by audio coming out of Pro Tools.

Keep in mind that the optical outputs of the 192 will not work at all until properly configured under Setup>Hardware(inside PT). By default, digital IO is NOT set to use the lightpipe connections(IIRC, it defaults to AES). Getting the ADAT setup is not exactly intuitive(as I found when trying to use both ADAT in/out for an OctoPre preamps and headphone outputs). Once that is configured, you MIGHT be able to route with some AUX tracks that would not chew up system resources

Agreed, definitely not intuitive. OMNI is a little squirelly, too. Pretty amazing that units at this price point have such limited routing options. Avid could take a few lessons from RME where that's concerned. I'll have to figure out the ADAT I/O eventually, as that's the only way I can record digitally in real time from Logic into Pro Tools.
