I kind of have to like Kontakt because such a huge quantity of third party sample libraries are developed for it. Compred to Kontakt, there is little or no support for other samplers. In other words, it is the industry standard by a huge margin. You can't avoid Kontakt if you're a working composer.

But that's not the point. You're not just buying Kontakt. As I said on page one of this thread, NI Komplete is in your price range and by far the best option for someone starting out IMO. It includes the industry standard sampler, a large library of quite useable samples PLUS a huge collection of other synths, some of which are VERY good.

At least listen to the demos of the products included with Komplete. It will take some time because there's just so much of it! If you don't like what you hear then fine, move on and try something else. You'd be crazy to ignore it though especially with the current offer.

Just check it out then decide.

Yeah that sounds better already. Think it's a bit of personal taste plus the music from the uvi demos speaks more to me, but I still think the Output tunes are a bit ordinary compared to UVI. UVI sounds much more vivid to me and stronger sound, and I think if what I heard from Output is maximum Kontakt performance I'd still prefer Falcon for its soundquality.

Did you check the UVI demos? I for one cannot deny it's superiority over everything I heard from NI so far. Third party support may become an issue for me later on, still I go for soundquality in the first place. Whatever they offer. Falcon is in my price range too.

I am not exactly starting. I did some tunes a couple of years ago and have a basic picture of ADSR, modulation, LFO and such. Worked with a Korg MS10 some time, later on Reason 2.5 and Rebirth and I can master Falcon soon enough if I take enough time and effort. If you say Kontakt is the best option for me as a starter that sais enough It implies my choice is more for advanced users. Not to defend my stripes but I see no reason to buy Kontakt in any way.

Oh and Marsdy, industry standards don't tell me much. It means to me standard performance. Bread and butter. Think UVI is outstanding. Now thatś not an industry standard, it's above that.

You've clearly made your mind up. UVI sounds fine and if you like its factory sounds better than Kontakt's then go and get it. However, when you get sick of Falcon's sounds, and you probably will, you're stuck because it has no third party support to speak of.

You've completely missed my point about Kontakt. I didn't say Kontakt was better for beginners I said KOMPLETE was and NOT because it is a dumbed down, newbie product. Kontakt and the other VIs included are hugely sophisticated and consequently quite hard to get into. You clearly don't understand just how powerful Kontakt is.

Well Dave, that may be all true but as you said, I made up my mind. I don't think I will get tired with Falcon sounds very soon, they have enough libraries. But I like it that you respect my choice.

Anyway, it was good to check into some NI demo sounds, now I know some more

Again you've missed my point. I'm really regretting spending time trying to help you
come to decision and now you're coming at me with passive aggressive BS.

Yes - it all depends on the library; Kontakt has some amazing third party sounds. Didn't Output go outside the Kontakt ecosystem for their latest library?
