I’m in the same boat. I just bought that same Pro Tools 2018 upgrade. Someone mentioned on a thread that you can find the High Sierra 10.13.0 on Apple.com so I’m going to see if I can find that and then hopefully it’ll give me the option to update to 10.13.3 and not straight to 10.13.6.

Let us know how it goes.

Am I understanding you correctly, you have 10.13.6 and you're gonna check if you can "downgrade"?

If you are lucky enough to get the ground level HS 10.13.0 and only want to go to 10.13.3 Google for the combo updater for that particular version. If you use the regular Apple updater it would take you to whatever is the latest revision for HS. There's no way to tell the regular Apple updater to get a particular revision.

The combo and delta updaters are available through Apple. I don't think you can find them searching the MAS but it's on their Apple support pages, which have links to take you to the MAS page to download. I think it's the full installer that is a pain in the ass to get if you want a version that is older than the latest release. For example currently the latest HS release is 10.13.6 so 10.13 through 10.13.5 are no longer available from Apple as full installers. They are just updaters so require an older version of HS to already be installed. I found myself in this issue because I upgraded to 10.13.4 coming from 10.6.8 and wanted to find a way to get to 10.13.3. I had to search around for a non official download of an older full installer and to my preference found one for 10.13 so I can now update to any point release. In the future I am going to save the full installer for at least the initial release of any major 10.X release because it's quite easy to paint yourself into a corner given how Apple manages our ability to upgrade or downgrade OS X versions.

So I'm actually currently using the last version of Yosemite on my 2012 late iMac with pro tools 11. I just bought pro tools 2018 because I got it for $99 dollars which was a steal I thought. But I thought about upgrading my OS but then saw that other thread on the problems with High Sierra. So I'm wanting to find the original version of High Sierra and update it too 10.13.3 if possible. My next step is to contact apple and then Avid. I haven't read enough solid reviews that the other versions of high sierra are stable enough for my standards. All that being said if I can't find the 10.13.3 then I'll just stay where I'm at until Mojave is good to go. I got no problems waiting it out. Thanks for anymore input and feedback. Thanks.

So it sounds like it'll be a long shot that I find 10.13.0 but I'm going to ask Apple and see. If I can't get a hold of it I'll just stay on Yosemite and Pro Tools 11 until Mojave is released and stable for Pro Tools 2018. I just happen to get 2018 for supper cheap at $99 dollars and figured I'd see if its stable to install. Thanks for the feedback and help. Thanks.

Ok guys just got off the line with Apple and as just like others have said 10.13.0 will not be re-released to the public apparently. He said its gone for good but I bet its sitting on their desk. Those dirty dogs.

Call again and you'll get a different person and try that one. You're not calling the online Apple Store right? If you do call again ask to escalate up a level to a supervisor. First level support at a lot of companies are just running off of a script. Another possibility is if someone could put it up on DropBox.

If you do get a hold of HS do this if you have a big enough system drive: first make a clone of your system (which is a good thing to have in any case), disconnect the clone, and partition the boot drive. Leave the Yosemite partition alone and put HS on the other partition. My late iMac had three partitions - OSX 10.8.5, OSX 10.9.5 and OSX 10.10.5

Now, here are a couple of dumb questions/speculation...

Since the warning at http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/c...m-Requirements reads:

"ALERT: Do not upgrade to macOS High Sierra version 10.13.4,"

and many people have reported that they've experienced no problems on 10.13.16, could it be there was some kind of a quirk in that particular OS version (10.13.14) which isn't present in the latest? There is no mention of 10.13.6 on that Avid page.

Also, (and this may be a really far stretch) could it be that the low buffer size problems warned about on that page are more like problems between Avid's own hardware interfaces and the newer MacOSs? Rather than just problems between the MacOS and the Pro Tools software itself?

Avid has now updated the compatibility page with the same message for Mojave as for High Sierra 10.10.4.

"ALERT: Do not upgrade to macOS Mojave version 10.14." CPU problems with lower buffer sizes etc etc.

Same warning for at least a month and now for two operating systems.
