Unhappy Re: The Official Unofficial Windows 7 Thread

Please Note: Pro Tools 8.0.3 software (and higher) does not support some retired products:
  • Original Mbox
I am afraid this is the death knoll for me. You won't have Jazzmandan to kick around anymore! ...do not ask for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee, ...I'm mad as hell and I ain't gona take it any more.

I did know that the MBox was being scraped, but to see it side-by-side with the Win 7 support announcement that I had been waiting for so long, make me sick.

Oh well, I still have my music!

It would not surprise me to see this on Monday to try for a Christmas bang. We'll see.

I think they're basically saying they're trying to get the updates out as quick as possible and there could/will be some minor bugs/tweaks needed and since there are more users on LE/HD, do not consider this done, simply a trial/error. They want to keep us happy, but at the same time don't want us to lash out if the doodoo hits the fan at any point. I guess it's cool, just gimme them updates, but the main cause of the delay is all the testing, and when they finally have something, they still want it to be considered beta...ah whatever, give us the goods! haha

So since protools will currently install mbox drivers on windows 7, you guys think its possible that maybe upgrading to 8.0.3 wont affect the drivers that work?

unsuccessful ...i just tried to install the 8.0.3 update on WIN-7 64 BIT and no luck...program loaded great and fast everything seemed to work...but the output of the sound was distorted.....ive tried alll configurations such has 16/24 bit 44.1 and 48k with no luck even the sounds playing through windows 7 is distorted....anyone have an idea what is going on....i did an upgrade from 8.0.1cs1....right now im uninstalling everything and starting from scratch and doing a upgrade from 8.0.0 to 8.0.3 to 8.0.4b and see if that will make a difference

ive followed all the steps on the site such as uninstalling the drivers from the 8.0.3 install before installing the 8.0.4b x64 drivers and i also did not plug in my mbox 2 while 8.0.3 was installing... 8.0.4b drivers didnt ask me to plug my interface in...but i did so on 2nd install of it....ill update for anyone else with this issue if i find a solution

I think Digi may have fixed PT to now run well in non admin mode, you will notice a banner that says (Pro tool is configuring your Computer to run in non administrative mode) but im taking no chances.

Also dont be alarmed if your 003R or whatever interface starts blinking once you install the Windows 7 beta driver and see that it is searching the "Preconfigured driver folders" it will take awhile, but it will finish.

Question about 64 bit drivers. I'm running M-Powered with several FW interfaces. Normally ProjectMix I/O but the firewire port just fried out on me so I'm sending it back to get fixed, so for the meantime I'm running everything off my little FW410 workhorse (love that thing!) I am running 8.0 on 7-32 but as my good friend and new bestest buddy Bernoni knows, I have been having issues this week with memory so I'm about to create a dual boot with 64 to see if it'll run better. Do I need to worry about the 64bit drivers for M-Audio stuff? Maybe I'll just check their site - yeah that's the ticket. Sorry, I answered my own question, but it's been a long week and a long day. Much love to the King "B"
