Nice stuff. Don't despair. Now you need a newer Mac greater or = to 5,1MacPro plus a modern OS 10.13.5 or 6 seems to be solid.
Mac mini 64 GB+pcie chassis 1-3 pie cards

otherwise sell the Native Card (studios with consoles like them) tape machine style 48x48-64

Well, nobody ever said the HDN card had any processing on it. And you did get the card, the OMNI, PT software and cables, so it was hardly nothing I bought mine with the HD IO instead of the OMNI. Having said that, and knowing several users that spent lots more on HDX cards, I was completely happy with my HDN rig(and wish I could have kept it when I sold the studio)

Given that your current computer is a Mac Pro 3,1...I would think a used 5,1 12 core would be a nice upgrade on a budget(assuming the card is still good). Anyone else in your area with an HDN setup where you could test the card? Did you try it in a different slot? Verifies your version of PT is compatible with your OS? Re-install the driver? Is the Native card selected as the "audio engine"?

Well Those pcie Native HD cards go for less than 600 dollars and the OMNI about 600-700 dollars if lucky. Our friends studio is selling a new PCIe HD native card with OMNI, less than a year old for 1200 and 1700 with PT12HD. Thats a good deal but not cheap as thats where they are now. A HDX card is less than 1600 dollars MINT so all these 10yo hardware is taking the proverbial price dive as they should.
