Winter NAMM 2012 Jan. 19-22 - What's New From Avid

We are now just 18 short days away from winter Namm 2012.

Will there be anything new from Avid?

Will there be anything new for the Eleven Rack?

Will there be an ERXP 2 with a Hagen amp and Mesa Cab?

Will there be an Eleven Rack Pro?

Will we be horribly disappointed?

All these questions and MORE will be answered.................

Any predictions guys? Any hopes for certain products or new features for Pro Tools or the Eleven Rack?

and the issues going along with them...
new plugin format started
in the midst of 64 bit transition
200 people layed off
record low stock

a company only has so much R&D money and i think their load is blown for awhile....

if there is anything i will be sure to take pics and report

It will be hard to top that.

It wouldn't surprise me if they released PT11 on the 19th and PT12 on the 20th with an upgrade price of $600 then $700 - no free upgrades

I honestly don't expect anything for the 11R. If they release an ERXP2, I'd be really happy.

I'm already satisfied with the amp and fx models we have, though more would never hurt, lol. My wishlist for ERXP2 are:

Standalone editor (though this should be free)
IR loader (at least 10 slots)
3rd (advanced settings) Amp tab with sag/bias/etc settings
Global EQ
Separate Amp/Cab block (full rig with and w/o cab possible at the same time)

Would gladly pay for ERXP2 if it included any 3 of those, but I don't have my hopes up.

I don't expect a new version of the hardware for a couple more years. Avid has typically waited about 4 or 5 years to update LE type interfaces, and even longer for HD interfaces.

Plus, they've made it clear that there's plenty of expansion room in the current unit.

Unless perhaps they're coming out with a higher priced "pro" version, as Benoni suggested, that will live along side the current unit, and be priced like the AX FX. That would be interesting.

One thing that could be new, especially now with AAX plugs being released, is an updated version of the plugin, with all the new amps and effects.
