I do have ffworks, it's just slightly more cumbersome than I'd like for such a simple task. Not impractical, just not as simple as quick as I'd hope for.

I’ve also dragged a movie onto Fission, and it only opens the audio file, which you can then export/transcode, or save separately.

And I think Shutter Encoder uses the same ff frameworks, but has a subjectively better interface. Whatever works. I didn’t pick up Shutter Encoder until MPEGstreamclip became completely unusable. That app did me solid for nearly 20 years.

YEAH, I used MPEG Streamclip for years also. It was just not going to survive into new OS versions etc. Sad, since it was great for me for years also.
I have both Stutter edit and FFworks, but have only really needed to use ffworks for most of my work here which is very reliable creating or fixing movies some people send me. I have not had any issues for month on the bounce to movie I was having and running Rosetta 2 in my room and that is totally fine for now.

If QT Export doesn't affect quality then it's the easiest option.

Scratch that. I'm realizing now that Export Audio Only still renders an m4a file, which PT cannot import. Unfortunately it's not a simple workaround.
