Tascam FW-1082 and Alesis MasterControl Control Surface's

Hi

Im looking at buying a 'TASCAM FW-1082 Audio/MIDI Interface and Control Surface'

or a Alesis MasterControl

I am running Pro Tools LE 7.4 on a Macbook w/10.4 and wondering how they both work with it running them as a control surface and a interface

The only info i can find about them is they work as a HUI controler for pro tools :S
What does this mean exactly? What is a HUI control surface

Any help at all would be really great.

I have the same question and would like a reply. But it seems that here the majority is using Command 8. I Think that new PT8 and new Digi003+ deserve a better/bigger and new control surface for us PTLE users. Ey Digi, what about a new Command 16?!!!!!

HUI allows you to use the midi for control surface only, you will not be able to use the audio interface at all unless you bring the analog outputs into an M box or Digi interface.
Pro tools will not work with any other Audio interface other than thier own, The interfaces act as a dongle.
